Why Write?

Why Write?

It's a good question, for me.
Why? I want to write, and do so many other things, but I don't.

I figure when you want to do something, and will not do it, you should figure out why you want to do it in the first place.

After asking myself repeatedly we I don't write, I have come full circle.
Still not writing.
But I've never experimented with asking why I want to.

Easy answers come and go. But I can hear the words of Charles Wright maintaining as a strong theme. Express Yourself. Expression is the drive, the desire, the longing that holds us. Life can be long, and hard, and mundane sometimes.  A constant rise and fall of emotions, health, wealth, relationships and success. Even knowing that it is all just the process of progress can't cheer you up.

In this day and age it can be difficult to be original. We are bombarded with sameness everyday. Yet there are times when we are able to feel ignited by what we are expressing, we have an accomplish originality. This is why, for me, I should write. Write tweets, posts, status updates, text messages, letters, poems, songs and blogs. Maybe even a book?

What's the point of all this? What have I learnt? Instead of asking why we do not or will not or can not do what we want. We could just ask why we want to.
